In the biographical thriller Pawn Sacrifice, American grandmaster chess player Bobby Fischer (played by Tobey Maguire; The Great Gatsby, Spiderman ) is pitted against the Soviet Union’s Boris Spassky (played by Liev Schreiber; X-Men Origins: Wolverine) for the 1972 World Chess Championship.
This true story, directed by Edward Zwick (The Last Samurai, Blood Diamond) and written by Steven Knight, depicts Fischer’s struggles with genius and madness as he finds himself the pawn in the Cold War fight between the US and the Soviet Union.
I received a referral to Monday night at the movies and looked it up to find this film. It interests us but I don’t know where it is playing?
