After losing his farm in the great flood of 1953, a romantic Dutch farmer is determined to never have wet socks again, and so cycles to the sizzling hot south of Italy to start a new life.

On the outskirts of a tiny Pugliese village, he miraculously manages to grow tulips, and in the process, becomes a mythical, living legend. Thirty years later, an Italian police inspector attempts to unravel the story, but struggles to distinguish fact from fiction.
