Based on Wajdi Mouawad's internationally acclaimed play, Incendies follows two siblings as they attempt to unravel the mystery of their mother's life. Jean Lebel, a notary, reads a mother's last will and testament to her two twins, Jeanne and Simon Marwan. The siblings are surprised to discover that their mother, Nawal, has left two envelopes: one for a father they thought was dead and one for a brother they've never heard of.

Jeanne decides to travel to her mother's homeland of Lebanon in search of the truth and is convinced that in this baffling mission lies the explanation she had been hoping for - why did their mother suddenly stop talking? And why had she said so little about her own past and background? Bent on unveiling her mother's secrets, Jeanne leaves Montreal for Lebanon.
